This frog could be wound up with the well-known rubber band mechanism and after it was placed in the water, its hind legs would start to propel the frog forward with a swimming motion.
This toy is very rare and practically unknown to collectors.
This image is from a private collection and was also placed in the book by Frédéric Marchand: The history of Martin mechanical toys
partly because of the fact that it could move in the water, most copies will have met their end completely rusted.
